It is one of the highest priced wines made in California. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate This 2014 is being released in November 2019. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2014 Promontory bursts from the glass with bold, brazen notions of crushed blackcurrants, black raspberries, wild blueberries and redcurrant jelly with a compelling perfume of rose hip tea, sandalwood, unsmoked cigars and dried lavender.

If you ever tasted Harlan Red (RP 100), this is the only place that you can tour the similar kind of wine estate as Harlan don't open to the public. The tour requires reservation ahead of time and it will be private tour for the whole time with no one else. The 2009 Promontory is a magnificent Bordeaux-styled red offering up notes of burning embers, scorched earth (not terribly dissimilar from a top Pessac-Leognan such as La Mission Haut-Brion), black fruits, loamy undertones of minerality, and hints of camphor and background oak. The best wine so far (although I suspect the 2015 may ultimately enter the picture as well) is the nearly perfect 2013 Promontory Estate.

Imperial Paragon Wine Night + Promontory!: Black fruits, tar, kirsch, smoke. This was very tight, rich and intense. The foundations are there but I honestly could not taste the wine for what it is as it was just so closed and rather harsh due to its youth.
